eadoAmbassadors program meeting
GLAMcamp breakout workshop on 20 May, NY

Agenda:
*Levels/areas (and overlaps) or participation in the Ambassador and GLAM programs.
*GLAM P.O.E.
*Channels/Online infrastructure
*How to use the current ambassador program to further the GLAM ambassador program. ie. through integration/merging (possibly)
*Definitions/taxonomy of GLAM ambassadors

Richard gives introduction to the Wikipedia Ambassador program, and GLAM program.

Levels of participation

Pete starts about levels of participation. We can't tell people (Wikipedians) not to participate. We should channel this (first level, e-volunteer). Then ambassador.

Lori states focus of the discussion should be the situation where a GLAM approaches a Chapter. Several people mention they are flooded already. A method to rank is needed, to target efforts. In the UK a taskforce (network) is in place. Training course is then needed, to teach people about sensitivities.

Lori: GLAMs have different needs. We need to split these tasks. Case studies could be helpful.

Fae: Wikipedian in Residence might not scale. Cases for institutions without a residence would also be interesting. Co-funded internships for instance. Sarah and Lori: But institutions like the title for PR. Alex: Museums like the freshness of WiRs, is it universal?

How do you get a Wikipedian in Residence? Do we need an approval process?

Here's the blog post and application from the National Archives http://blogs.archives.gov/aotus/?p=2489

Pharos: Regional Ambassadors for GLAM vs. Chapters as the first contact point

Lori: POE for GLAMs when they arrive on the GLAM page....group triage?

Pharos: Online ambassadors for maintaining online requests by GLAMs/etc.

Fae: Doesn't call himself a GLAM Ambassador as the title might give a misleading impression of authority  - E-volunteers
Fae feels that the GLAM Ambassador title can be barrier for new volunteers who feel they need training or certification to start talking to a local institution.

Fae & Lori: To have a place where people can sign up and be "on-call"..

(Invisible Liam): Volunteer database, location, expertise...rolodex of volunteers :)
Fae doesn't care who does the job, as long as the job gets done..? If the job exists, volunteers will come?

Pharos: Campus Ambassador program as model, use CAs as a pool for Wikipedians-in-Residence..

Liam: No money... :-/

Canadian concerns - needs for regionalness (is that a word?) - lack of funding...

E-VOLUNTEERS

Consistency, definitions, campus ambassdors as pool?

IMA wants to utilize an e-volunteer program to utilize hours, etc, for funding, etc.

Task list...for volunteers..BACKLOG

Coordinator for the work that e-volunteers are doing...offline vs. online volunteers.

Where would we store that information?
-Metawiki or GLAM pages?
-Spreadsheet

------------------------

Alex feels that the title is imperative, it's important.
Liam: What do we call and where do we put the place where all the tasks, people, etc.

*A page on the Outreach GLAM WIKI - a table, skillsets, that Ambassadors & GLAMS can use as a pool.
*Peter: Regional and subject matter listed?
Liam: Need for globality
Pharos: Do it by language?
Fae: Hmmmm...no .
Liam: Some of these pages would be rather short, depending on the language.
Katie: Too complicated, email list?
Alex & Sarah: email account..

RD: Don't include in the CA's page, create one for WP...

;E-VOLUNTEERS/AMBASSADORS
*Use Wikiprojects model for people signing up on Ambasadors & Interns page.
*Bring Ambassdor register to A&I page
*Point of contact map

POINTS THUS FAR
